"I started in private practice in November, 2012, and with the help of HSA I was well prepared to start billing on day one. About 1/3 of my practice time is at a nursing home in Antrim County and the other 2/3 is at my outpatient clinic in Kalkaska County. I also do about 2-3 home visits per month. “In October of 2013 I attended a National Association of Rural Health Clinic’s in Indianapolis. Our clinic was a Free Clinic but since Kentucky had decided to go with the Health Care Exchange effective January 2014 we were in process of converting to a Rural Health Clinic. During the first Networking Break, Michelle Kruzel with HSA was the first person I had contact with regarding the RHC process. I roamed around and talked with several other vendors but found myself back with Michelle. It was very clear to me that she was well versed in the RHC process. After talking with her at length she suggested I speak with Chris Christoffersen President/CEO of HSA. Chris and I ended up meeting while at the Crown Plaza during the conference. I was very impressed with how Chris, Michelle, and Julie Quinn, CPA lead me through the lengthy process that was required for the RHC certification as well as the credentialing and application process for all the MCO’s, Private Insurance and CMS. Upon return home to Elkton KY, Chris and I initiated a contract between our clinic and HSA. Vicki Hoad and Michelle Kruzel have been an absolute dream to work with even when I became stressed with the process. Their work has been very timely. I contracted with HSA the first of November, 2013 and we had our CMS Certification Survey on February 13, 2014. I could not have been more pleased. We had a difficult time transitioning from a Free Clinic to a RHC because we had been in the community servicing the working uninsured for thirteen years and we found that the stigma attached to us seem to be keeping us from growing as fast as we would like. Julie Quinn and I spoke regarding this issue and with her advice; our Board of Directors decided we would re-brand ourselves. Thus our new LOGO and new name. Our clinic chose to contract our billing with HSA as well. Again this process has been smooth and we have no complaints.
