HSA HISTORY

Health Services Associates, Inc. was started in 1980 by the late, Ron L. Nelson, PA. Incorporated in 1987, it has been our mission and goal to promote access to health care in rural and medically underserved communities, hospitals and practices throughout the United States. With our firm having over 40 years of individual experience in direct health care delivery and management, we’ve enjoyed bringing a professional and friendly approach to the rural community.

Ron L. Nelson, Founder of Health Services Associates was a recognized expert in the area of reimbursement and physician payment. Mr. Nelson served on multiple National and State commissions and testified before Congress on numerous occasions regarding issues related to payment policy. Mr. Nelson was the co-founder and first president of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics.

Mr. Nelson completed two terms as President of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Mr. Nelson had a broad background in both health policy and clinical delivery and was frequently recognized as an expert on cost-based reimbursement related to rural health clinics and federally qualified health centers. Ron loved his family, his patients, his horses and spending time in the mountains out West. He is greatly missed by all who knew him.
